Getting Married in Stanwood Camano Island

A few tips to get started

1. MAKE LOTS OF LISTS

Lists will help you map out the important details of your wedding. How much money you want to spend, who will be in the wedding party, guest lists, possible dates and locations, and ideas of what you want to see happen on the day are all things you should put down in writing. Write down what your priorities are for your big day, a timeline of what your day may look like and what factors you would like to emphasize or minimize. Most importantly, what will make this day a day to remember for YOU as a couple.

Having your ideas mapped out on a piece of paper or on your phone will save you a lot of stress as you try to sort through all the details of what needs to happen.

2. CONSIDER HIRING A WEDDING PLANNER

Hiring a wedding planner can help reduce a lot of the stress not only on planning your wedding, but also on your wedding day itself. Wedding planners typically have connections with a variety of vendors. This can make it easy for you to find what you need in order to help make your dream wedding a reality.

A word of wisdom: while your wedding planner will have many connections, you do not have to go with their recommended vendors. Many local/small/less heard of vendors may not be represented, so be sure to choose the vendors you want, the ones that reflect your style and will help make your wedding day the event you always wanted it to be.

If you don’t want to hire a wedding planner, make sure you have a designated person (someone who is NOT in the wedding party or is the mother of the bride or groom) to make a timeline, supervise the decorating and keep everything moving on the day. Ideally this is an organized and administrative person who can be in charge and be your point of contact with your vendors (DJ, florists, caterer, etc).

3. DREAM BIG

Together with your fiancé take the time to dream about your wedding day. Dreaming big doesn’t necessarily mean “expensive”. It means making the day completely and uniquely yours. Have fun and enjoy the journey. The exciting part is just beginning.

The Threads

Most ladies spend hours dreaming about the dress they will wear on their big day. From playing dress up, watching TV shows, or simply dreaming about your wedding day, the dress you wear is one of the most significant, anticipated and exciting parts of a wedding. It’s always a good idea to shop around, try on LOTS of dresses, and of course make it a party! The Location

This is one of the most important aspects for your wedding day. You will need to ask yourselves lots of questions as you explore different venues in order to find the place that works best for you. Some questions to get you started as you explore venues:

  1. Does the venue fit your vision? Do you love the look and vibe of the place?
  2. Is it big enough for all of your guests? Is it too big for what you want? Pro-Tip: Guests lists will fluctuate so make sure your venue choice can accommodate some last minute tweaks.
  3. Can it adapt in case of weather issues? Let’s face it, this is Washington and sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate.
  4. What’s included in the cost? Is it full service or will you need to have outside rentals for anything? Do I have to use their caterer or can I choose my own?
